In July of 2018, the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology’s (NAIT) Alternative Energy Technology program released the findings of a five-year study on the hindrance of snowfall on solar panels.
Their results found that snow only resulted in a three percent energy loss – much lower than the initial energy projections of as much as 20 percent.
As to be expected, there are external factors that could affect the results, such as the tilt of the panel and the level of dirt or dust on it.
